This was a tricky one. I rarely listen to or buy full albums any more. I buy a song or two from a variety of sources and I am happy with that. The albums I have bought most recently were:

Top 10 Sources of Inspiration
Inspiration is a big deal to me - I crave it. These are some of the things that inspire me.
10. Music - give me a Bach Brandenburg Concerto (#3 is my favorite) or an a capella performance (especially a men's quartet), and I am a happy woman.
9. Photographers - I love to look at photography blogs and the photographs of my friends. One of my favorite parts of our West Wing tour of the White House was staring at the photographs on the walls.
8. Stacy Julian - her philosophy of memory keeping, her class at Big Picture Classes, her crafting space
7. Becky Higgins - her philosophy of memory keeping, her Project Life system, her crafting space (I recently watched a video she did on managing the papers her kids have from school - I was inspired to bring order to my memory keeping chaos)
6. Ali Edwards - her photography, her transparency/openness about her journey, her love of her family
5. Fabric Stores/Quilting Stores/Cross Stitch stores - I love the potential represented by these places. The fabrics, the patterns, the finished samples. I just want to soak them in - just like I wanted to do with the photographs at the White House.
4. The zoo - Seeing different animals makes me appreciate God's limitless creativity. I am especially inspired by birds. I don't know why, but I am drawn to them.

1. Pinterest - every time I tell myself I'm just going to hop on to look for a minute, it turns into an hour or more. Infinite creativity of other people.

Inspired by ... harmony
I am inspired by harmony. I could listen to four-part harmonies all day long. While not a country music fan, I do enjoy some southern gospel because of its quartets and harmonies. When I hear a good trio or quartet, I just want to drop everything and soak in the parts. It's like listening to a puzzle. Each part contributes to a more beautiful whole.

For the love of....
I read an article the other day in a magazine about the author, Meg Cabot. It referenced something from her blog here. The question she was asked is why she studied art in college when she liked writing so much. She says, in essence, that someone told her not to because her love of writing would die in a college writing program. (She adds that, instead, her love of art was sucked out of her.)
When I was growing up, I always thought I would be a teacher. By high school I had decided that I wanted to teach music. A couple years into college, I didn't want anything to do with music. I changed my major and moved as far away from music as I could.
What is that about? What is it about college that sucks the love and life out of a passion? Does it only happen in the arts, or does it happen in other areas as well? How does a young person discern what passions should remain hobbies and what ones could be turned into a career?
