Inspired by.... color

I am inspired by color. I love to paint things and mix paints an combine colors in certain ways that make me feel good. I am drawn to certain colors in the clothing store. I love looking at scrapbooking catalogs like Close to My Heart and Stampin' Up because I like to see what colors they put together.

Right now I am drawn to spring colors - bright ones, though, not the pastels. Like the bright pinks, yellows, greens and purples. I know it is almost autumn, but spring is speaking to me these days.

Inspired by .... books

This weekend I stumbled across one of my favorite magazines of the year - the Publisher's Weekly issue about new children's books. They put one out in the spring and one in the fall, and I pour over it, reading word for word over several weeks until I am almost overwhelmed by the number of new books I want to read in the coming months.

It comes with a hefty price tag - $12 per issue - and these are the only issues of PW you are likely to see in a bookstore. If you love children's books like I love children's books, join me in reading this and be inspired by the new ideas in store for young readers this fall.

Inspired by .... character

This weekend, my husband picked up a copy of ESPN the Magazine, primarily because it was highlighting fantasy football, but also because of the cover - Aaron Rodgers. For those who aren't in the know, Rodgers is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, taking over after Favre was traded to the Jets (and then to the Vikings - don't get me started on that!).

I was skeptical at first about Rodgers, but he grew on me. I liked how he stayed quiet - none of the ego you usually see in the NFL - and did his job. The interview in this issue just solidified my respect of Rodgers. I find his work ethic and character to be inspiring. How many people - especially in the public spotlight - face adversity and disappointment by digging in, working hard, and staying quiet? Rodgers is an inspiration and I am looking forward to watching him lead the Packers again this season.

Inspired by others - Inking Idaho

Becky Roberts and her blog inspire me! I subscribe to the emails so I get a little dose in my email box every day or so amid the sales flyers and Facebook updates. She makes so many fun and interesting things. It makes me want to shove all of my piles of my crafting table and dig right in. Here are a few things she has made lately.

So, head over to Inking Idaho and be inspired with me!

Inspiration - sassy

I have become interested in cross stitch again this summer and I found these patterns on sale - along with a few others - and snatched them up. I love the colors and the sassy sayings. I can't wait to get started on them!

Looking for inspiration

For a month now I have been asking myself what this blog is for - what do I want to do with it? Can I keep up with two?

I don't know that I can keep up with two - this summer between work and other projects and family time, my reading time has gone way down and it is harder to keep up with my book blog. But then I started thinking about the things that are capturing my attention right now - the things that are inspiring me to do something or be something. And I thought I might be able to quickly blog those things. So, I'll be giving that a try over the next few weeks and we'll see what happens.

Today I'll just post this - I am inspired by growing our own food. This past weekend I was able to make dinner using tomatoes and fresh basil from our garden. It was very cool!
